Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment offers tips on making the most of mall offerings during the Holy Month

With the Holy Month of Ramadan underway, and the city of Dubai bustling with activity across its many shopping destinations, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) offers a range of tips for shopping this Ramadan in Dubai.

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), said: “Ramadan in Dubai is a wonderful period of reflection in the Islamic calendar, and one that so many residents and visitors to Dubai are keen to embrace. With so much going on in the city, we wanted to highlight some of the key destinations that are offering an abundance of activity, and tips to ensure you make the most of this special time. Friends and families can get together over delicious food at Iftar and Suhoor, and take in some of the many mall activations taking place throughout Dubai. Some malls are also running night markets, and the Ramadan Big Bazaar is definitely something for shoppers to look forward to, as it will provide the perfect opportunity to shop for clothes, accessories and gifts for Eid Al Fitr.”

The Dubai Mall

Opening hours: Retailers are open from 10:00am until 2:00am.

Things to do: One of the attractions taking people’s breath away at the biggest mall in the region is the 9-HIJRI –a month-long activation which celebrates the common guiding values between the Holy Month and the nation’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed. Featuring nine immersive zones spread across the mall, residents and visitors will be taken on an enriching journey with exhibits, interactive workshops and inspiring showcases of Islamic culture, religion and heritage.

Additionally, KidZania is offering an unbelievable discounted Economy ticket until 15th June. Tickets are just AED 99, down from AED 180, on visits after 3pm. Grab this chance and let your child immerse themself in roleplay of over 80 professions including surgeon, chef, firefighter and more.

Food options: The only place open for dine-in during the day is the second floor food court, which opens at 12pm. A few other standalone outlets like Le Pain Quotidien and Paul will offer takeaway.

City Centre Deira

Opening hours: From May 16th to June 7th, retailers and restaurants from 10:00am to 12:00am; from June 8th to June 17th, retailers from 10:00am to 01:00am and restaurants from 10:00am to 02:00am

Things to do: For Ramadan in Dubai at City Centre Deira, shoppers that buy an Eidiya Mall Gift Card will receive two VOX Cinemas tickets instantly. Additionally, the annual “Make a Difference this Ramadan” campaign in partnership with The Red Crescent will help people to give back to needy families in the community. Simply visit specially marked donation bins across the shopping mall and donate used books, toys and clothing.

Food options: Food courts will be serving from 12:00pm.

The best time to visit: The last two weeks of Ramadan when City Centre Deira will launch a “Shop and Win” promotion to make purchasing Eid gifts all the more enjoyable. The mall is particularly appealing at Iftar time thanks to various promotions across its restaurants.

The Ramadan Big Bazaar

Opening hours: From 31st May to 11th June, 3:00pm to 01:00am.

Things to do: The Ramadan Big Bazaar at the Sheikh Rashid Hall, Dubai World Trade Centre will be a haven for shoppers with twelve exciting days of entertainment and incredible offers in the build up to Eid Al Fitr. Bigger, better and more exciting than ever before, the 2018 Ramadan Big Bazaar will offer a huge array of products and brands from around the region, including clothing, jewellery, accessories, health, beauty and personal care products, perfumes, food items, toys, baby items and even travel and tourism options. A dedicated Kids’ Play Area will be fully equipped to entertain children with a host of activities, and a grand Arabic themed majlis will provide an exclusive henna painting section for ladies.

Food options: A variety of delicious food and beverage options will be available from start to close.

Dubai Festival City Mall

Opening hours: From Saturday to Wednesday, retailers and restaurants open from 10:00am until midnight; Thursday to Friday, retailers and restaurants open from 10:00am until 01:00am.

Things to do: One of the key activations delighting residents and visitors alike at Dubai Festival City Mall (DFCM) is the Disney “Magical Wishing Well”. Shoppers at DFCM have the chance to record a greeting at one of the Disney pods throughout the mall, before they see the message come alive in the Disney Magical Wishing Well in Festival Square. The greeting will then be captured as a photo and sent to their loved ones. For every greeting shared, DFCM will donate 1 AED to the Basma Campaign at the Al Jalila Foundation - a global philanthropic organisation founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Food options: Almost 40 restaurants will be operating during the day. Things to do: Throughout the Holy Month, the destinations will offer a “Your Ramadan Guide” booklet including exclusive Iftar, Suhoor and Eid gifting offers. Visitors can obtain the booklet from customer service hubs across the malls, which will also offer complimentary dates at Iftar time.

Visitors to Al Seef can look forward to family entertainment every weekend, including an oud player, tanoor dancer, storyteller, sous vendor and henna artist. Al Seef will also support the #GiftAsmile charity in partnership with the Beit Al Kheir society, offering donation boxes, gift a smile booths and charity reading booths. Al Seef and La Mer will also offer Ramadan Night Markets from Iftar to Suhoor

Food options: Al Seef, City Walk, The Beach, Boxpark and La Mer will offer Dubai’s residents and tourists a selection of over 55 delicious Iftar and Suhoor options. City Walk, The Beach and La Mer also offer a host of daytime dining options.

Best time to visit: Al Seef at the weekend for the Ramadan family entertainment and City Walk, The Beach, Boxpark and La Mer at Iftar and Suhoor time, when families and friends can share a Ramadan meal across a variety of restaurants and cafés.

Mall of the Emirates

Opening hours: From May 16th to June 7th, retailers and restaurants from 10:00am until 12:00am; from June 8th to June 17th, retailers from 10:00am to 01:00am and restaurants from 10:00am to 02:00am.

Things to do: This Ramadan in Dubai, Mall of the Emirates is alight with themed décor throughout the mall. In addition, visitors can take part in the annual ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ charity campaign. The mall will collected unused items (books, toys and clothing) at specially marked donation bins, in partnership with The Red Crescent, in order to give back to needy families in the community.

Food options: The food court will be serving diners from 12:00pm onwards, and takeaways will be permitted from 10:00am. Other standalone outlets that will be open during the day include St. Tropez, Salmontini, Apres, Karam Beirut and Din Tai Fung.

The best time to visit: Throughout the day thanks to the brilliant transport links. Beat the crowds and get to the mall first thing on the weekends, or in the evenings in time for Iftar or Suhoor.

Mercato

Opening hours: Retailers and restaurants open from 10:00am to 01:00am

Things to do: Mercato will be filled with activity to embrace the holy month. The “Share Your Blessings” charity initiative in partnership with The Red Crescent will allow people to give back through placing pre-loved items, daily necessities and non-perishable food in donation boxes in the mall. Other activities taking place include Ramadan story time, creative workshops, roaming entertainment, Ramadan pop-up markets and the ARTE Market.

Food options: The food court is the only dining area open during the day. Other outlets such as Starbucks are open for take-away.

The best time to visit: Located on Jumeirah Beach Road, close to famous Dubai attractions like Kite Beach, Mercato is an ideal choice for a spot of shopping first thing in the morning , or in the evening close to Iftar.
